{Piper Rose 2.19.13 - The Birth Story}

It's the moment you have all been waiting for.... the birth story.
It started on my birthday (the 16th) I was having contractions almost all day.. nothing consistent enough to warrant a trip to the hospital but I was hoping they would pick up and we would have a baby the next day. I did NOT want to share my birthday... what can I say? I'm selfish.
The 17th came and I was STILL having contractions but now they were way more painful. Jason kept trying to get me to walk but I was just getting frustrated because the contractions would go from being 6 minutes apart to 15 minutes apart and I felt like I was never going to have our little girl.
All night I had contractions and could barely sleep.. on Monday I was really miserable. Thankfully my Mom came down and Jason stayed home with me so we could time my contractions and hopefully have our baby. BUT the same thing happened. I got really excited because my contractions (although painful) were now consistently at 6-7 minutes apart (they had to be 5 minutes apart before the hospital recommended coming in). At one point during the day I couldn't bare the contractions and almost went in for some pain relief (aka some drugs) but decided against it because I didn't want to get in the car. Around 7pm I decided to lay down and was just crying because I was in pain and hadn't been able to rest well for 3 days the contractions had gone to 10 minutes apart. I then decided to get in the shower.. and within minutes contraction after contraction were hitting. I am NOT quiet when I'm in labor. Jason came in and told me to get out of the shower because we had to go to the hospital. I was telling him that these probably weren't contractions and that I didn't want to get sent home... but he insisted we go in. The ride over wasn't much fun..And trying to give all your information to nurses while having contractions equally not as fun. I finally got checked and was 4cm dilated and 50% effaced.
Side note to all the al natural moms: PROPS.. I could not imagine going through labor without drugs.
Unfortunately for me, the hospital had just been infiltrated with lots of patients and they were trying to get rooms ready for everyone. I could hear some of the other women and realized they had priority over me. So we opted to walk around the halls to get the labor going some more... that lasted 3 laps and then i was demanding a room to sit down in. Then a nurse came in and I was quite dramatic and was SUPER eager to get my epidural. In fact, as soon as she asked when I was ready for my epidural I told her right now would be good.
I was scared to get an epidural because with Kenzie it never spread to one side of my body so they had to redo the epidural. It just wasn't a pleasant experience. This time around it was HEAVEN. And getting the epidural was nothing compared to those dang contractions. My demeanor immediately changed and I talked with my Mom and Jason and apologized to teh nurse for being a little cray-cray. We checked into the hospital around 8:45 and got checked again around midnight where they broke my water because I had progressed to 8cm and 100% effaced. We were really excited because I progressed SOOOOO slowly with Kenzie so we were expecting another long wait.
Around 2am I was ready to go and Piper Rose Morris was born at 2:35am.
She was 7lbs 11oz (just like Kenzie) and 20 3/4 inches long.
PART II coming soon

Let's Play Catch Up...

For Halloween this year we stayed home and passed out candy.
It was so strange because the streets were lined with families as opposed to previous years where we had only a few handfuls of trick-or-treaters at Jason's parents.

Kenzie was a peacock at our ward's trunk-or-treat but she was less than pleased with her outfit.. so we didn't get many pictures.

Being pregnant I thought I could pull off a cute costume but I ended up just trying to match Kenzie's costume... there is always next year!

{Oh hey there}

It's been a bit too long since my last 'update'... but let me explain.

I'm pregnant with Baby #2... so therefore the last few months I have been in survival mode. Until a few days ago I was lucky to get off the couch and lucky not to throw up at least once a day.

I am about 15 weeks along and yes -- I will post a picture soon.

My little ones will be 16 months apart! 16 months!

At first I was feeling super overwhelmed... but now I'm pretty excited. I'm hoping Kenzie gets a little sister :) And from an early ultrasound we were told baby was looking like a girl!

More to come...

{Kenzie: 7 months}

+ She learned how to crawl around 6 months & 2 weeks... she is EVERYWHERE
+ Started to really like sweet potatoes. She is trying other foods..peaches..applesauce but still prefers sweet potatoes
+ Kenzie still likes to wake up every 4-5 hours at night... not fun.
+ She loves silky blankets
+ She is trying to wave
+ Kenzie is OBSESSED with the vacuum
+ She hates snuggling.. it makes me kinda sad but she only takes good naps in her carseat and in her crib

Kenzie is such a happy baby and always smiling. Happy 7 months baby girl!

{What I wore: Mommy Style}

In the past week or so I have done 2 things that have helped me a lot.

1) I chopped my hair. SO much easier for me to take care of.
2) Invested in eyelash extensions..best decision ever. The illusion of make-up with NO effort.
Seriously, if you are in the Fresno or Sacramento area let me know! I will hook you up with Christina.

I still have the postpartum body..
but I haven't done anything to improve it..
so I guess I should stop complaining.

Outfit #1 - Running Errands
Shirt - Ross {$6.99}
Jeans - Old Navy {on sale $10}
Sandals - Goodwill {$4}
Scarf - .99 cent city :) {$1}
Total for the outfit: $21.99
I think was the first time I wore skinnies without boots... can I pull it off?

Outfit #2
Shirt - The Limited via Goodwill - $2
Skirt - New York & Co via Goodwill - $2
Necklace - A booth at a local carnival - $3 (I think)

I really liked this outfit at the time.. but realize from the pictures I need a body shaper haha.

I have really enjoyed thrifting and going to garage sale hunts lately.
I can get gently loved name brand items for next to nothing. I'm sure Jason appreciates it too.

I'm linking up here and here.

{Easter 2012}

Kenzie made out like a bandit. You can't see her blinged out Easter tote but it is CUTE.

She totally looks like her Dad!

We had a really low key Easter Sunday. We went to church and then came home to make our feast.
We made ham, potatoes au gratin & corn. It was delicious.
It was a perfect day... just the three of us.

PS: Jason only has 3 more weeks of school!! I am so excited and proud.

{We bought a house}

We bought our first home at the end of March! We are thrilled.
It's a 3 bedroom 2 bath with an open floor plan.
We are so happy to have a place to call our own.
More pictures to come.
